Mother can give birth to their child with normal delivery, C-section delivery and the last one is Vacuum Assisted delivery. In this article you will get to know about Vacuum Assisted delivery and why is it used by heath care professional.

Vacuum Assisted delivery

It is also known as Vacuum delivery baby in which health care professionals use Vacuum in order to move their baby through birth canal.  This vacuum is cup like shape made up of soft plastic which easily attaches to the baby’s head with suction. Health care professional uses the cup handle to push the baby through birth canal.

 Why there is need of Vacuum delivery?

 At the time of delivery when the cervix is fully open and you tried it pushing still not able to do so. In this case you may go for Vacuum delivery. The main reasons include

ü  When the baby is not able to move after pushing for several hours
ü   You are too tired to push them from long time
ü  If baby is showing the signs of distress and he needs to come faster when you fail to push yourself.
ü  May be person is suffering from any medical problem.

When the vacuum is about to be used, baby should be far from birth canal.  Doctor will have to check that everything should be safe before using the vacuum. It should only be used when the baby is about to be born. If the head of baby is too high, then mothers will have to go for C-section delivery. In most of the cases, women avoid to go vacuum assisted delivery which is not safe for them along with their kids.

 Process of Vacuum Assisted delivery

In, Vacuum Extractor Delivery, doctors will give medicine to block pain. In this medicine is place in the vagina. Plastic cup is placed on the baby’s head. Then you are allowed to push your baby again. In that period, doctors on the other side will pull their head to deliver the baby. Once the head is about to come, then the doctors pull the baby, body out for delivery. In such case you have to move for c-section delivery.

Risk

There are more chances of risk for baby and mother. It will result in swelling of such areas where the suction cup is placed. This swelling will go down within one day or so. There is no serious injury in case of Vacuum delivery. After the delivery women will notice some pain during urination. These are the complications which are mostly seen in women after delivery. But the chances of pain will increase more when the person is going for vacuum extraction.

It is important for the women that they should consult their health care professionals in case of problems seen by them after vacuum delivery.  Health care professionals will take better care of them. Women should discuss their problem freely so that they will get best solution regarding the problem.
