Thermal
wear has become quite popular in the recent years as they are able to provide a
level of comfort along with warmth which no other winter wear is able to
provide. Their thin and lightweight structure allows them to be worn with any
type of clothing. If you don’t want to cover yourself up from head to toe with sweaters and coats but also do not want to
freeze to death when you step out, thermal wears are the way to go.
Buying and
wearing thermals is quite easy, but you need to take proper care of them. Most
women wonder what the proper way to wash winter inner wear for
ladies is. Washing them in an inappropriate manner
might cause them to shrink. Cold water cycle is the best way to wash them. Next
comes drying, which is another problematic process. Warm dryers cause the inner
wears to shrink. Hanging them might result the thermals to lose their shape.
You need to allow them to dry out naturally by laying them flat on a towel. We
will go into the details of washing your thermals based on their material.
Woollen thermals
In extreme
conditions, wool is the material most people go for. With strong cold winds and
snow and temperature below the freezing point, woollen thermals are used as the
body’s first layer of protection. This kind of thermals fit quite well, wicks
fast and can also be given an anti-bacterial treatment which doesn’t wash away.
1.
If
you are planning to hand wash your woollen thermals then use warm water and
mild detergent. Rinse them very thoroughly. Line drying is preferred for
woollen thermals. Tumble drying is an absolute no. It is better to hand wash
your woollen thermals.
2.
Though
most woollen thermals can be washed in a machine, yet you should check whether
your one can be or not. If it can then set your machine for the delicate cycle
or the wool cycle along with mild detergent and warm water. The short spin
cycle should be used. You need to dry them the same way you would dry if you
hand washed them.
Wool blend thermals
Wool blends
are in demand as they can combine warmth with durability and softness. They
provide a sleek and comfortable fit and also hold their shape for years.
1.
Wash
your wool blend thermals with mild detergent and warm water. After rinsing them
thoroughly, lay them flat on a surface to allow them to air dry.
2.
Wool
blends need to washed in the same way woollen thermals are washed in the
machine and air dried on a flat surface.
Cotton thermals
1.
Soak
you cotton thermals in soapy water made with warm water and mild detergent for
about 10 minutes. Rub the spoiled spots and rinse to remove the detergent.
Spread them flat on a surface to air dry.
2.
Machine
wash is similar to the other materials, but cold water can be used for cotton
thermals. Air drying should be done.
